How Vestara reads houses

Last updated: September 12, 2026

Whole Sign houses

Vestara uses Whole Sign houses. The sign your Ascendant falls in is your first house; the next sign is your second house, and so on around the wheel. Every planet's house follows from its sign.

We use it because it gives one house per sign, one clear answer, and never splits a sign across two houses. The same planet lands in the same house on every screen of the app.

Many other apps use Placidus or Koch. The same planet can sit in a different house there. That is not an error on either side — it is a different convention, and it is worth knowing which one you are reading.

When your birth time is unknown

An Ascendant needs an exact birth time. If you do not have an exact birth time, Vestara does not guess. Readings simply leave houses out instead of inventing a placement. You still get everything built from planets, signs, and transits.

You can edit your birth time any time in the app. As soon as it is exact enough to fix your Ascendant, house context turns on automatically.
